Starting with a visit to Silo 13, a cement distribution centre located in the 12th arrondissement, the aim is to trace the cement supply chain in France and around the world. This analysis seeks to highlight the changes taking place within the industry, the new image it is cultivating, the complexity of the historical relationship with the material, and the global imposition of the neoliberal system.

Following a second visit to the Couvrot cement works, it now seems clear that the production system, the economic and political regime, and the formalisation of architecture are interdependent and cannot be understood in isolation from one another. The second phase of the project therefore consists of reconstructing the historical and cognitive links between these three aspects, in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of what cement is and what it generates. Finally, drawing on the approach of the author Mark Fisher, the project highlights the gaps, dysfunctions and subvertions within the current system, which offer a glimpse of the possibility of cement production in a post-capitalist context.
